Scope of Training
This course is an advanced CPR course for health care professionals who have a duty to respond to medical emergencies in a hospital or pre-hospital care setting such as an ambulance. This group includes but is not limited to physicians, dentists, nurses, respiratory therapists, EMS personnel, other health personnel, industrial emergency response teams, volunteer/career firefighters, medical and nursing students.
** Certification is valid for three (3) years. Re-certification requires the completion of a four (4) to six (6) hour re-certification course. **

Learning Competencies
- Demonstrate one-rescuer adult, child, and infant cardiopulmonary resuscitation on a manikin, and how to use an AED
- Demonstrate two-rescuer adult, child and infant cardiopulmonary resuscitation on a manikin
- Simulate the treatment of a conscious adult or child with an obstructed airway. Complications: a pregnant woman and a person who is obese
- Demonstrate the treatment of a conscious infant with an obstructed airway on a manikin
- Simulate the treatment of an unconscious adult, child, or infant with an obstructed airway
- Demonstrate rescue breathing on a manikin
- Demonstrate use of a Bag-Valve-Mask (BVM)
