As a Project Coordinator – Mining/Civil you will work with experienced Project Managers and technical staff to develop your skills finding, bidding, contracting, delivering and closing-out projects. This is a front-line operations role, in which you will assist the Project Manager while you gain progressively more experience on job sites with every aspect of the project life cycle. You will support the Project Manager from start to finish, ensuring that projects are safely and profitably completed according to the schedule, budget & contract document.

Responsibilities:

– Ensure project requirements are met in a timely and professional manner

– Work with knowledgeable field staff to prepare accurate estimates for resourcing, cost and schedule

– Obtain quotes and estimates from vendors and subcontractors

– Prepare contractual agreements, purchase orders, change orders and claims

– Document items received under purchase orders and review vendor invoices

– Plan and prepare Critical Path Method (CPM) milestone construction schedules and monitor progress against established schedules

– Monitor and follow up with subcontractors and staff to ensure work is being completed safely, on schedule and on budget

– Search for, summarize and distribute public and private bid opportunities

– Assist with the preparation of quotes, proposals, expressions of interest and statements of qualifications

– Compile and maintain project information sheets (“project profiles”)

– Assist with documentation support

– Verify that those records are complete, current and compliant with contract requirements

– Obtain Certificates of Insurance, Consent of Surety forms, bid bonds, etc.

– Obtain/maintain business licenses, permits, authorizations, utility clearances, access agreements and crossing agreements for relevant job locations and job aspects

– Prepare field packages for Superintendents

– Maintain accurate and up-to-date records

– Ensure health and safety is considered in the performance of all activities

– Understand and apply relevant principles of heavy construction/earthmoving, environmental remediation/environmental chemistry, and bioengineering/ecological restoration

– Map workflows and conduct detailed analysis of, e.g., crew composition, productivity, sequence, routing, cycle time and other variables to improve safety and performance

Qualifications:

– Graduate from both a secondary and a post-secondary institution

– Degree work in Environmental Science preferred

– Experience in preparing earthworks and environmental remediation estimates

– Experience in reviewing environmental reports, geotechnical reports, archaeological surveys, and hazardous materials building assessments

-Knowledge of heavy equipment, earthworks and environmental chemistry

– Knowledge of environmental legislation related to environmental remediation

– Knowledge of tender and construction management law, processes and related contractual conditions

– Knowledge of common contracts and forms (e.g., CCDC & CCA)

Work Environment:

– Majority of time will be spent on job site;

-Hours can be long, based on project and client requirements

– Use of specialized PPE may be required after appropriate training

– Some work is outdoors so appropriate clothing will be required
